Cosmetic Dentistry – With the advances of cosmetic dentistry, one can now attain the perfect Hollywood smile in a short period of time. Changes made to your teeth can beautify your overall look. Cosmetic and aesthetic dentistry focuses primarily on the easthetic result, which is different from general, traditional dentistry emphasizing function.

Cosmetic dentistry combines art and science to create a more radiant smile. Common cosmetic dentistry procedures – porcelain veneers, crowns, tooth whitening, gum re-contouring and dental implants – not only beautify your smile, but can at the same time improve oral problems, including your bite.

Tooth Whitening – The power of a white, perfect smile is dazzling. According to studies conducted by Beall Research and Training, Chicago, an attractive smile will make you appear more intelligent, interesting and successful to others.

Whether it be nature or bad habits that have dimmed the gleam of your pearly whites, there’s good news – you can take advantage of the advances in smile technology that have boosted cosmetic dental procedures by nearly 40 percent (40%) in the last five years. In less than a decade, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry (AACD) reports that teeth whitening has increased more than 300 percent (300%), veneer investments have grown by more than 250 percent (250%) and bonding has more than doubled.

Dental Implants – Dental implants are small posts made of titanium alloy. They are inserted into the jawbone to replace missing teeth. The metal anchors are the substitute for the tooth root. They are surgically placed into the jawbone where the implant becomes directly attached to vital bone, creating a strong foundation for artificial teeth.

The posts provide stable anchors for artificial replacement teeth. Dental implants are highly successful and help in preserving facial structure and preventing the bone loss that occurs when teeth are missing.

Rather than resting on the gum line like removable dentures, or using adjacent teeth as anchors like fixed bridges, dental implants are long-term replacements. Statistics show that 69 percent (69%) of adults ages 35 to 44 have lost at least one permanent tooth to an accident, gum disease, a failed root canal or tooth decay. Furthermore, by age 74, 26 percent (26%) of adults have lost all of their permanent teeth.

Implant Alternatives – An alternative to implants is a removable partial denture. This alternative is, generally speaking, less comfortable and more difficult to get used to than permanent implants. Its chewing ability does not compare to the one of a bridge supported by implants.

Dental Veneers – Today’s veneers are very strong and durable and you can get them in the exact color of your existing teeth so that they look perfectly natural. After the veneers are made, they can be put onto your teeth in just one treatment session. Today’s veneers are made from thin porcelain and are applied to the front of existing teeth using a very strong bonding agent. The newest veneers are virtually pain free to apply and rarely result in the teeth sensitivity often associated with the older style veneers.
Many unsightly and unhealthy dental conditions can be corrected with veneers, including chipped teeth, cracked teeth, misshapen teeth, misaligned teeth, discolored teeth and rotated teeth. While preserving the natural tooth structure, this innovative new dental veneer process provides both beauty and strength to the patient

Porcelain Crowns – Porcelain crowns refer to a dental crown that utilizes porcelain. There are two types of dental crowns that use porcelain material – all porcelain crowns and combination crowns that uses a mixture of porcelain and either metal or gold.

All-porcelain crowns are generally used for the front teeth and are the most esthetically pleasing. Mirroring the color of natural teeth, this type of dental crown has the advantages of capturing and reflecting light like natural teeth, as well as having a natural appearance with a smooth surface.  These types of crowns  are  extremely durable and are the recommended dental crown for patients with metal sensitivities or allergies. These allergies  cause bleeding gums around  the metal reinforced porcelain crowns.

TMD/TMJ Occlusion – TMJ/TMD sufferers often experience jaw clicking, popping or locking during movement or chewing. In some cases, chewing is difficult, or the bite may not align properly (malocclusion). One may also experience swelling on the side of the face, toothaches, headaches, neck aches, earaches and hearing problems. Self-help remedies have been suggested to treat symptoms, but treatment through a good dentist may be less costly, less time intensive and can produce lasting results.

NTI mouth guards can be made to relieve the muscle spasm of the face and to relieve the pressure off the teeth and render them less sensitive to cold and chewing . The NTI appliance is very small , effective and comfortable to wear .

Composite Bonding – Composite bonding is the result of many years of dental research and the development of sophisticated dental materials to provide safe, effective, tooth-colored restorations and cosmetic improvements. Bonding involves the application of a resin material to an existing anterior (front) tooth to cover stain, rebuilding the shape of a tooth or changing the shape of a tooth for a more pleasing appearance.

Bonding may also be used on posterior teeth (molars) for tooth colored fillings. Composite bonding is often used to close gaps in the teeth, provide a more pleasing shape, or to rebuild a chipped tooth. Sometimes old discolored fillings are replaced with composite to provide a lighter, brighter general appearance.

Orthodontics Without Braces – Perfect your smile without conventional metal braces with an invisible way to straighten your teeth. By using a series of clear, removable custom-made aligners to move your teeth, the treatment plan is more comfortable than traditional orthodontics as it avoids mouth abrasions that can be caused by metal braces. You remove your aligners before you eat and drink, so there are no food restrictions or problems with flossing or brushing. This technology is also more convenient, since you are likely to spend less time in the doctor’s office getting adjustments.
